Top 5 Reasons to Stay at The Westender Inn: The Jamaica Series #5

Serene (adj.)- calm, peaceful, or tranquil; unruffled.

If I had to describe The Westender Inn in one word it would be just that, Serene. Luckily, on this particular trip that is exactly what I was going for. One of the many beauties of Jamaica is that it has so much to offer, there is the party scene and the hustle and bustle of the city and the luxurious grand hotels. Then there are the many “mom and pop” or family owned businesses and hotels that offer a much slower paced style of vacationing that is off the beaten path. This time, I wanted the latter.

The Drive

Be prepared for a fairly lengthy ride (about 2 hours from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay) but the route is scenic so you will be OK! You’ll also have the opportunity to stop along the way at any of the many restaurants and bars. You’ll ride through seven Mile Beach in Negril… keep going. Then you’ll pass the famous Rick’s Cafe… keep going. Next up is the LightHouse, situated on the West End of Negirl… keep going. About 3 miles past the Lighthouse sits The Westender Inn, a breathtaking. quaint, unique hotel.

Staff

At check-in I realized there was a mix up with the room I booked and the room they were trying to give me. I intentionally booked an ocean front room and they had me down for a garden view room but they resolved the issue quickly and  without a problem! My actual room was not ready yet so while they prepared it they showed me to the property’s bar and restaurant for a few ice cold rum punches which were right on time after that drive! Overall, the staff was very attentive and friendly.

Hotel Grounds

The Westender Inn offers an array of rooms to choose from, ranging from suites with full kitchens to studios with kitchenettes. You can also choose from an ocean view or garden view. Luckily, all worked out and I got the ocean view suite I requested because OMG! It was AMAZING! So spacious, and the view…… *at a loss for words* There was a huge window that opened up and faced the ocean and you can literally hear the waves crashing against the rocks, it was very therapeutic and relaxing.

Not only is there a private beach, but there is also an infinity pool and fresh water pool. The scenery is all around beautiful and it did not take me long to find a few good places for some photo opps!

I would definitely recommend The Westender Inn for your trip to Jamaica, especially if you are a return visitor or just looking for a nice escape in a beautiful and peaceful location!
