Deciding who you would like to travel with can sometimes be a big deal, some would say that it can even make or break the trip! To me, a day spent on vacation will always be better than a day spent in the office… No matter who I am with! Seeing the glass half full, rather than half empty will make you realize there are always solutions to problems, but we sure can have a preference! So which do you prefer???
A girls/guys trip? Baecation? Solo travel? Just you and your bestie? Maybe a vacation with co-workers (the ones you actually enjoy to be around LOL), spring break or summer vacation with classmates, or travel with family?
Girls/Guys Trip
Girls trips are always a good time. I organized a small girls trip to Miami Florida for 2016 Memorial Day weekend and it was nice to to travel in a small group and let loose with close friends; group travel also feels safer. It was great to be able to split costs making the trip super affordable. Plus, it’s like having your own photographer on vacation! who better to take dope vacay pics of you than one of your friends??
Glass half empty– Planning things can get difficult once you put together a group of opinionated girls and something as simple as deciding on where to eat for dinner can turn into a whole fiasco!
Glass half full– If you are well organized you can have a whole itinerary all set up and agreed upon ahead of time. You can also do a good old fashioned vote on places to go or split up the group for certain activities.
Baecation
They say you don’t really know a person until you live with them. But I have also heard, you don’t really know a person until you travel with them, who can relate? A baecation is when two lovers travel together for a period of time. There are so many places that promote romantic getaways, and almost every resort offers candle light dinners, couples massages and many other options. This can be a perfect way to reignite the fire in your relationship or marriage. The escape from reality can provide just the amount of space you need to focus solely on each other and have fun at the same time.
Glass half empty- “You don’t really know a person until you travel with them” Be prepared in case the vacation does not go as planned
Glass half full- A fun baecation can make your relationship stronger!
Solo Travel
Book your own ticket on your own time. Choose only locations that you really want to go to, doing activities you enjoy and not having to worry about anyone disagreeing. Sounds like an ideal time, especially if you are an introvert or just like to do things at your own pace. I have yet to really tap into the world of solo travel but I hope to very soon. I know people who love to travel solo and they say things like it’s such a perfect time to reflect, helps you grow, discover yourself, and also gives you a sense of inner peace and purpose.
Glass half empty– The possibility of feeling lonely and unsafe
Glass half full– There are websites like s.t.e.p to register with your nearest US Embassy or consulate when traveling solo, and to combat loneliness you can always join a group tour or activity
Traveling with a Best Friend
You can’t really go wrong with this one. First of all, you actually like the person you’re traveling with and that would solve a lot. A couple of years ago my bestie and I took a road trip from Delaware to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania a whopping 7+ hour Drive! However, it only felt like an hour tops, due to all of the laughter, inside jokes, and great conversation that helped the time fly by.
Glass half empty– can’t think of any
Glass half full– Always 😉
Vacay with Co-workers
In my opinion a decision like this would depend heavily upon where you work and your relationship with your co-workers. This could be really fun and essentially make for a better work environment.
Glass half empty– If you are a private person at work and like to keep it that way this might not be a great idea for you
Glass half full– Could create a sense of camaraderie between co-workers
Trip with Classmates
Spring break? Senior week? I’ll let you in on a little fun fact, the university I went to (LU! woot woot!) did not have a spring break, instead we dismissed for summer break a few weeks earlier than most universities that actually got a full spring break. Therefore I never really got a chance to indulge in spring break behavior…*sigh*. But from what i’ve heard and seen from friends Spring Break can be one hell of a time! Especially when vacationing in traditional spring break locations like Cancun Mexico and Miami Florida. I have partaken in senior week however, both after high school and college and I must say it was memorable, lots of fun and a great way to end the year! You can turn this in to a tradition and use it as a way to reunite with old classmates!
Glass half empty– Organizing these types of trips can be difficult and time consuming
Glass half full– Contacting a travel agent is a good idea
Family Travel (my preference)
This is what I enjoy the absolute most! Surrounded by love, joy, happiness and people you can count on. Traveling with family is very near and dear to me because my mom has taken on the role of our event organizer or “Minister of Entertainment” as we like to call her. She plans trips and events for nearly every special occasion you can think of, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc! Sometimes family trips total to 30+ people! We always have a fabulous time especially since one of our motto’s is B.Y.O.P – Bring Your Own Party!
Glass half empty– You may not have a close knit family or family that is into traveling
Glass half full– There are plenty of other options 🙂
So tell me, what is your travel preference?? Comment below
