Trip Date: May 2015
I would say that I am an adventurous person….well I don’t think I would ever Skydive, or bungee jump, or para-sail, I have visions of being accidentally dropped into the deep blue sea and the deep blue sea gives me the heebie-jeebies. With that being said, I would still say I’m a bit of an adventurous person (okay maybe just a little) and on this particular trip I was feeling quite adventurous.
Rafting on the Martha Brae River
If you are ever looking for something scenic, relaxing, and even romantic to do, I would definitely suggest this activity. At Martha Brae River in Trelawny Jamaica you get to experience all of the above. The tour provides a very relaxing 1 hour ride along the river while the tour guide gives you a brief history of the river and the area. Derek was our tour guide and he was so great! He is the reason why I went back again… and again!
Mystic Mountain
Okay, here is where my adventurous side kicked in. Mystic Mountain, located in Ocho Rios, JA provides an array of activities from zip-lining to bobsledding to sky chairs, infinity pool, and water slides. There is also a rain forest and restaurant & bar on the property. Basically, if you plan to go to Mystic Mountain you can make an entire day of it.
We decided to do zip-lining and bobsledding. This was my first time zip-lining and surprisingly I wasn’t nervous at all. The tour guides make you feel really safe and comfortable and it is a lot of fun! What a thrill it is to glide across the beautiful natural scenery of Jamaica!
Allure Party
One of the oh so many fun things about Jamaica is that there is always something to do, more specifically, always a party. Allure was a party that was being held on the beach in the parish of St. Mary. I attended the party with a group of friends and we had a great time! The purchase of a ticket included food, and we got VIP so each of us had our own bottle of Belaire champagne… sounds amazing right? Well… we all drank our champagne straight from the bottle because who needs a glass right? Wrong! There I am drinking my Belaire and dancing simultaneously when suddenly a guy walks past and accidentally bumped into me… CRACK! Is all I heard. I chipped my tooth.
I stood there like a statue for about a minute with my lips pressed shut as he apologized over and over again. Of course he didn’t know he chipped my tooth he was just apologizing for bumping me. Once he walked away and I snapped out of my state of shock I turned to my fiance and said “uhhhh.. I think my tooth is chipped” he took one good look at me and said he couldn’t tell. I looked at myself through my camera on my phone and also could not see it but I knew it was chipped. I could feel it and I heard it. As time went on I got over it and continued to enjoy the party. What else was a girl to do??
Side note: I made another first stop at the Chill Out Hut restaurant upon arrival for some good food. Read more about the Chill Out Hut here.
Glass half empty: my tooth was definitely chipped!
Glass half full: It could have been worse! Turns out it was very minor and could not be seen by the naked eye; either way, my dentist fixed me up as soon as I returned from vacation. Shout out to Dr. Perez!
